Opt for shared taxis and helicopter rides for a convenient journey

The journey from Jammu to Pahalgam will take about eight hours in a taxi and more than 14 hours when in the bus. Besides this, there are some shared cabs or taxis also available between this route. Once you reach a place called Chandanwari you will find hordes of horses waiting for you. If you are short on time we recommend you to opt for a helicopter ride which is available from Pahalgam & Baltal. Also these rides are not very expensive.

Children and women and elderly people are restricted to travel in certain conditions

If you have a child who belongs to the age group of 13 or below he or she will not be allowed to go forward on this trek. Besides these restrictions, you will see people from different age groups and societies embarking upon this journey which include handicapped people and also pilgrims who undergo the yatra barefoot. You will also notice many Sadhus here. You must know that there is a limit on the number of people who are allowed to go up on this trek and on a particular date only. This means that you will be allocated a date beforehand.

There are Langars present all along the trekking route which provide a variety of food absolutely free of cost to the yatris. The food includes rice, curries, idlis dosas etc. Besides this and there are refreshments also available along with certain dry fruits and chocolates. There is enough and ample of water for everyone and you will also get hot water.

The cold climate of Kashmir can be quite harsh especially during the monsoon season. For this reason make sure that you carry enough woolen clothes and full sleeves sweaters along with you during your yatra. Also make sure that you carry a torch and a raincoat along with you.

You need to undergo a compulsory medical examination

From the year 2014 it has been made mandatory by the government that every pilgrim or yatri we will have to undergo a medical examination before the yatra.
